Dambulla Sri Lanka

Dambulla, a town in the Matale District of Sri Lanka, is a cultural and religious site worth a visit for its stunning sculptures and paintings. It is most known for its cave temples, which date back to the 1st century BCE. These are a complex of caves that have been converted into Buddhist temples and feature intricate frescoes depicting the life of Buddha and the Jataka tales. The Sigiriya rock fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is also located near the town.

The Golden Temple, Ibbankatuwa Megalithic Tombs, Popham’s Arboretum, Jathika Namal Uyana, and Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium are some landmarks known in the city. Being located in the heart of the island’s tea country, it is also a mecca for tea lovers.
